Summer Under the Blanket
By Patrick John Rebullida
I wait for one full day in the sun
Bare-footed and bare-chested, my heart exposed
Flesh hot with sweat from your heat spun
Each moment free, with nothing to oppose
Blurry lines are drawn on the sand
Where crabs burrow and children build castles
Neptune’s waves echo, crash and land
On the white shore, it’s grain rattles
The rough and soft meld into one, unify
Under the blanket of the blue horizon and clear sky
The light of day and dark of night, unify
As I forget the time swiftly passing by
This is the summer I’ve longed for
This in dreams I summon and bind
Let me stay on this white, sandy shore
Under the blanket with fingers entwined
